NEBULOUS: Fleet Command - The Kill Chain

NEBULOUS: Fleet Command is an intriguing game. With a spirited adherence to plausible physics, weapons mounts and sensors, this tactical space game is unique. And if you are a fan of Command Modern Operations, it may be worth to check.

The span of options and platforms is enormous, even at this early stage of development. So I decided to take it easy and start by the basics with a very nimble command. In this case, I have chosen two Raines class frigates armed with an MK2 cannon and SGM-206 cruise, active radar missiles each. Other amenities include a search radar, a targeting radar and a Mk90 Aurora point defense system.

Strategic Command American Civil War - A Short Preview

Strategic Command (Fury Software/Matrix Slitherine Games) is now a mature and well established series of military strategy games. The clever design of the Strategic Command engine allowed games with great playability with the level of complexity needed for global military strategy and warfare. Strategic Command will never be a game about how many kilos of lard and sausage you have in an Army's field kitchen or how many bullets you spent in the last battle. Strategic Command games are more about managing global resources, with a sharp focus on the ones relevant to military campaigning. There are abstractions in Strategic Command, of course, but so far they have melt seamlessly into the overall layout of their games.

Enter American Civil War, the newest offering to be released tomorrow by Matrix/Slitherine Games. Following the same tradition as the previous games, military strategy but now entirely focused in the American Civil War.

Kriegsmarine - The Battle Off Cromer - Torpedoes in Anger, and Desperation

The game: Kriegsmarine by WDS

The scenario: December 7, 1939: The Night of December 6/7, the Germans ran a minelaying mission off the Hainsborough lightship with three Z-Class destroyers. One was turned back with mechanical difficulty, but the other two continued the mission.. After their mines were dropped, they were headed eastward when they spotted two British destroyers on a parallel course. After a short action, the Germans disengaged and headed home, but not before torpedoing and seriously damaging HMS Jersey.

A very small engagement, totally worth it. Played as the Germans.
