Combat Mission Fortress Italy Got the "Engine 4" Treatment

And what an enjoyable game continues to be. I am in the process of revisiting my favorites scenarios and I noticed that many of them play differently than in previous iterations. Most noticeable for me is the behavior of infantry.

One more bazooka team out of action. Screenshot from "Catch a Tiger", a favorite of mine that teaches  you the value of delaying contact with the enemy.

Steel Division Normandy 44 - The Road Bend from Hell

A beta for Steel Division Normandy 44 is available through Steam.

I blundered an armored vehicle through the sights of an unseen German AT gun (somewhere in the background). Note the armored infantry dismounting on the right.
This real time strategy war game is from the makers of the acclaimed Wargame series. This beta features two maps and the skirmish mode only. Yet, there is a lot of game time in it.

Steel Beasts ProPE 4.019 - Firing Positions Do Expire

In case you didn't know, Steel Beasts had a new update which brings it to version 4.019.

A nice firing position, which I should never, never, never hold on to for too long.

Scourge of War Waterloo - Wavre DLC - Pushed From the Dyle - AAR

A new DLC has been released for the Scourge of War Waterloo series. This AAR is for the smallest of the scenarios included in the DLC. I'm in command of a tiny force of Prussians (some 2700 men, no support of any kind), the first contestants against the French trying to link up with Napoleon.

The initial deployment had my forces too exposed to the French (which are advancing from the far background) so I decided to move all my command across the Dyle River.

Afghanistan '11 - The Quest for the Light Infantry Mindset

Afghanistan '11 is such a brilliant game that makes me want to put it through its paces. I am a big fan of William Lind's work and one of his recent books is just about fighting insurgencies. So here I go for a short open question.

Oh yeah. The Taliban show up in mass against my forward operating base.

Falcon BMS - Balkans Theater of Operation for BMS 4.33 U3

Have you tried this theater of operations for Falcon BMS? If you have not been following Falcon BMS lately, there were some very nice updates on the 4.33 version (the so-called U1, U2 and U3). You will need to be up to date with the U3 in order to be able to play the Balkans.

That being said, here are some snapshots of my first mission for the "Under Siege" campaign.

Syrian Warfare - When Controversy is Your Only Asset

Syrian Warfare is a so-called "realistic" RTS that has been sold via Steam until it was removed because of some copyright infringement issues.

The Panzer Battles Demo Packs a Lot of Variety and Content

From the beaches around the Alligator Creek estuary in the Solomons, through the troop- and fuel-eating expanses of the Ukraine, the unforgiving sands of the desert in Lybia and all the way to the bucolic pastures and crops west of Brussels (what a beautiful place to fight in a tank!), you will get a chance of leading Allied or Axis troops in WWII battles.

Hannut, South East of Brussels: May 13th, 1940. A beautiful scenario in which you command a German tank brigade. Don't get fooled, the French have more than that tankette seen at the edge of Lens St. Remy.
