I've been granted the privilege of a press and preview copy of "Concert of Europe" (New DLC for Strategic Command-American Civil War, courtesy of Eugenia and Paolo at Slitherine Games. Thank you!
This new wargame offers a unique opportunity to explore Euro-centric strategic warfare during a fascinating period of military transition. The game covers the shift from muzzle-loading rifles and muskets to the raw firepower of breech-loading and automatic weapons. While gameplay is at the strategic and operational level—so you won't see specific tactical actions—you will see how new tactical disruptors impacted the higher levels of warfare. The game reflects this through infantry equipment, which varies by decade and nation, influencing attack and defend values. Additionally, varied road networks across different theaters of operation affect mobility and strategic tempo.
I believe this wargame will be a great addition to the genre, not only for its value in portraying strategic decision-making but also for its exploration of some obscure and under-gamed conflicts.
