Falcon BMS 4.38 - Maverick Missiles Back to Fun with a Better Controller

The use of the targeting pod for Maverick missiles' boresighting and aiming has always been problematic with my old trusty Thrustmaster Warthog throttle.

The Warthog's "nipple" mini-joystick is problematic for me when the targeting pod is all zoomed in and there is a need to move the cursor just a little notch.

I always regretted not getting a Cougar HOTAS I saw one black Friday back when CompUSA was still around. It must have been during the mid 2000s (?). Then as a revenge a few years later I got a Warthog HOTAS. The Warthog throttle delivers to this day and is so versatile, the only thing I never liked was the mini joystick. I could never tune it to match my unable finger. There is a fine hardware add-on that I could have used but I'm older and I don't have the time or courage to open up my old Warthog friend.

Given that I have taken a serious brake from DCS and I'm flying just Falcon BMS I thought of getting the Thrustmaster Viper TQS Mission Pack. It's a bit pricey but I wanted to have the Falcon throttle experience, starting with the radar cursor control.

The throttle grip, with the radar cursor in the middle.

Really great radar cursor control! I can almost pick each bolt of a crane with the targeting pod.

The panels below the grip are also very convenient and save me from having to click in the screen at critical times.

There are plenty of reviews elsewhere and I invite you to check them out to see if it's justifiable to get one.

As for myself, I just keep trying to complete the advanced training with Mavericks in Falcon BMS 4.38. Very challenging and atmospheric mission BTW. But now I have no excuse to arrive to the target area with my Maverick's not properly boresighted.

Is that the target bridge? It turns out it is not, but I proceeded to properly char it.

Cheers,
