It does look great. I've only fooled around in sandbox mode so far can't wait to try something bigger.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for reading.

Indeed. I'm floored by the sandbox mode ... Didn't somebody try to do this for Combat Mission? It was quite a while ago, but I remember it.

I am ecstatic at the prospect of commanding a Napoleonic battle at a semi-operational scale.

I like it. So much.

"Didn't somebody try to do this for Combat Mission?" What do you mean by that, JC? try what?
I can't wait to play this game too!

Hi Jon,

Thanks for reading.

What I mean is a campaign map in which you move your bulk forces and when they collide with the enemy a 3D battle starts...

It was actually planned, the project was called Combat Mission Campaigns. Techical difficulties turned out to be the downfall of that concept, though it was brilliant. If you want to take a dip into the history pool and taste the bitter tears of disappointment head this way: http://community.battlefront.com/topic/85314-important-announcement/

@JC: So it's basically plays like Total War games? Interesting.

And if you want the next best thing (which is meant as no slight), google yourself up some RobO's Quick Campaign (ROQC). Using macro'd Excel spreadsheets, it lets you take a core force through many battles. It's much less complicated than it seems at first; the pre- and post-battle paperwork takes about 10 minutes after you've done it a couple times.

Thanks for that. What a painful memory! :)

Jon, the scope is narrower and it is more of a wargame than Total War.
