Graviteam Tactics Under the Cruel Star: The Loss of Homenki Farmstead
The newest DLC, "Under the Cruel Star" is now out for Graviteam Tactics Mius Front. The Soviet's 11 Cavalry Division will smash against units of the Leibstandarte entrenched in the vicinity of Bulakhi. The DLC is a 10 turn (playable from both sides) affair fought in snowy terrain (February 1943) in a map of around 48 square kilometers.
The amount of troops involved in this DLC is relatively small, and Under the Cruel Star may be a great entry point for newbies and for re-approaching the game after previous unsuccessful attempts.
I just played my first battle as the Germans. Read all about it in my new website.

DCS AV 8B Harrier USS Tarawa Landing
I had to try this for myself and although it was enjoyable it was quite a shocker when I followed the stock advice found in the official forums and from a couple of the DCS YouTube stars. The main practice that earned me the drink very frequently was the continuous trimming. Honestly, I don't get this "trim, trim, trim!" so-revered crutch for everything difficult in DCS. It was already brought up for air refueling in the DCS Hornet, and proven unnecessary by many, including myself. But yeah, let's keep flying with the trim instead of with the stick ...

Combat Mission's Tactical AI
The purpose of this blog entry is to examine Combat Mission's TacAI and its ability to find out cover and concealment, and if that ability includes figuring out a path towards their destination.

With the new patch, now at least the US Marines, Dutch and German land forces look like they were intended. In this micro feature, a look at the US Marines, old and new.
More screenshots at this link. Yes, I started a website because why not and I am kicking the tires.

Armored Brigade - Soviet Forward Detachment
The paradigm of the inflexible tactics of the Soviets is very likely overblown Western wishful thinking.

Active Defense Doctrine - Revisiting It 30 Years Later - Decisive Action, by Jim Lunsford (HPS Sims)
The Active Defense Doctrine made its debut in the US Army in 1976. It proposed a covering force area in which units would trade space for time, giving time for the forces in the main battle area to concentrate and fight the ENY's main effort in a reserve-less, counterattack-less, all guns upfront battle with occasional bends in the battlefront without allowing an ENY breakthrough. The echeloning of Warsaw Pact forces was certainly a problem the Active Defense Doctrine could not take care of and so it went away replaced by AirLand Battle.

Combat Mission Shock Force 2 (Demo) - Wilcox Scenario -Video AAR- Episode 3
Continued from my previous blog entry, this Combat Mission Shock Force 2 (Demo) scenario which I played against my friend Olaf. I'm recording it in the form of a video. Please make sure to check it out at YouTube for a high definition version.
In this particular entry, so many things happened.
A horrendous friendly fire incident, for which I am responsible for not properly managing the fire from my Bradley IFVs.
Then, careless losses of two additional Bradleys, due to my inability to use positions in defilade.
Olav continues to surprise me with his refusal to post defensive positions facing directly to my gun muzzles.

DCS: P-51D Mustang - Glide Bombing
With the recent fixes and upgrades, the P-51D looks stunning and flies great in the DCS World skies.
I have plenty of un-played content in the form of campaigns and one of those has the P-51 as the main airframe. One of my non-complete items of the P-51 pilot syllabus is bombing, which is needed in the P-51D Operation Charnwood Campaign (Bunyap Campaigns).
