Strategic Command WWII - From Blue Water to Shallow Seas: The Limited Range of Carrier-Based Land Attack

I'm playing Strategic Command WWII as the Axis and the fight in the far east is far from decisive. The Chinese have a good hold on their country and their defenses are a tough nut to crack. Desperate to break the stalemate and win some decisive victories for Japan, I brought carriers to litoral waters neighboring the two land-based points of main effort.

The Kaga carrier, near present-day Zhanjiang, supports I Corps. The defenses of the Chinese forces are very strong. The balance of combat power is not in my favor, despite the naval carrier-borne airpower.

In the northern flank, the Soryu and Akagi are in support of the 17th and 6th Armies. Their support range is impressive, but the area of operations is so far-flung!

Cheers,
