North German Plain 85 / Steel Beasts ProPE - Scenario Editing, First Strokes

I'm into assembling part of the North German Plain scenario into Steel Beasts ProPE. I will not reproduce it down to every unit but rather focus on one Leopard II tank company north of Coppenbrugge.

Leopard tanks getting ready to be deployed. :)
The map where this scenario is going to be played.

From the map above you can see plenty of room to play around. Yet, the map is just a fraction of a huge operational area!

The town of Coppenbrugge is shown below. This is the area where the panzers of A company will be initially deployed.

Coppenbrugge. Every town in this area is in the middle of a valley.

The infantry fighting vehicles, Marders in this case, are likely to be under complete control of the computer.

Cheers,

HI JC. Great idea. I hope I will be able to download your creation. BTW whats with the new Gettysburg game? Whats your opinion?

Wow, cool idea indeed. Looking forward to your next posts about this scenario

NB need help, a sparring partner: would do so with pleasure.

Or want me to do the Red side of the scenario (without that I give you insight about the Red moves, but while remaining true to the North German plain 85-scenario): feel free to contact me (but I don't want to impose myself).

Best regards,

Koen

Thanks for your comments, gents.

@ Seydlitz,

I am not sure the scenario will be worth your time, but yes I will make it available. :p
The Gettysburg game, I don't know. Still have to buy it but from what I can see in the demo, there are no single scenarios (?). I am waiting for somebody else to go first. :)

@Koen,
Fantastic idea! I will be getting back to you closer to the weekend. Lots of work to do in this scenario, but I don't want to tax the computer too much with a 1 to 1 representation of the NGP scenario. What do you think?

@ Anonymous,
That's great! You may find the Steel Beasts map a bit barren ... No?

Hello JC

Great that you are also interested! It probably would be a first time that a SB-scenario would be made in such way, with 2 ppl working separately on it
- so yes, thrilling experiment.

* About: "I will be getting back to you closer to the weekend."

Pls do so.
I will send you a PM via the SB.com forum with my emailadress.

But ..., I will be going on holiday around that weekend (either Friday or Sunday) for about 2 weeks ...
So if you would prefer to finalise this now on your own, I would fully understand.
- on the other hand, if you don't mind postponing this, then I'm all yours.

About: "Lots of work to do in this scenario, but I don't want to tax the computer too much with a 1 to 1 representation of the NGP scenario. What do you think?"

SB can handle a lot of units without trouble for most computers, and big SACEUR battles are great :-)
Personally I slightly prefer to focus on few units & build as detailed as is possible battle plans for those units, so focusing on 1 part of the NGP-scenario is fine by me as well.
A human single player can also handle only a limited number of units.

How many units are involved in the total NGP scenario ? Where could I find some info about it ?

Many thx, Koen

Yes, one of the issues of these games is how open the terrain is. The real area has a lot more buildings, hedges etc and would restrict movement and weapon ranges considerably. Lots of no go areas for tanks and AFVs in taht area.

So, I do not really consider it may have effect.
