Now that ArmA 2 Operation Arrowhead is out, who will care about VBS2 Lite US Army?

Last word I know about VBS2 Lite US Army is that the US Army legal counsel is holding up its release to civilians.

If VBS2 Lite US Army ever gets released to civilians, I wonder who is going to care anyway. With Operation Arrowhead you get a similar geography (a mountainous country side, a desert and a middle-eastern looking city), more equipment, more factions and likely better AI.

US soldiers push towards an Afghan village in VBS2 US Army Lite.

Yet, if ArmA 2 Operation Arrowhead would run as smooth as any of the VBS2 "Lites" ... I would be in heaven.

VBS2 still has the added bonus of realistic weapon handling and firing values, something that felt tweaked in the retail of ArmA1 and 2. Most notably was the really slow firing rate of the Mk19 mounted grenade launcher.

Also I got VBS2.

VBS2 lite is more like a really full featured demo. More of interest to those of us who played OFP/Arma/Arma II and were always curious about VBS2 but couldn't justify the cost.

The lack of online play alone would have relegated VBS2 Lite to a limited number of fans.

Thanks for your comments, gents.

VBS2 Lite has online play, but just by IP. :(

Working with VBS2 (lite and full versions) on a daily basis, I would to comfort everyone who has been unable to play them that they are not missing out on very much at all. This is particularly true if you had any aspirations of designing and developing scenarios. The AI is moronic, there is absolutely NO reliable scripting manual, and as far as "realistic" weapon performance --- don't worry about it. AI-controlled characters run through walls in VBS2. How realistic is that? (Maybe so the Army can train to fight monks from the Shaolin Temple or something...I dunno.) I have not played the Arma games, but they could only be better.

Thanks for your comment,

A while ago I was very close to order a version of VBS2. Not very encouraged to do that now! Thanks!
