JCOVE Lite: The British Army Infantry Fire Team

Gentlemen, I am going to go on a limb when it comes to formations and TTPs in JCOVE-Lite. The UK Ministry of Defense considers all Army doctrinal publications secret, so it's going to be hard to be true to life. Any pointers and suggestions are (as always) very welcome.

First the good news: the British Army infantry has fire teams organized pretty much like the US Army/Marines, and they do have a light machine gun in each of them. Also, the British kit is awesome and the guns are great fun to shoot in the simulation.

The bad news: a British Army section (equivalent to the US Army/Marines squad) has only two fire teams. Gah! This just opens the Pandora's box when it comes to tactics! (More on this as soon as the shooting starts, stay tunned).

Given my profound ignorance on the topic, I have been asking around in JCOVE-Lite's unofficial community about this and people have been really very helpful. Unfortunately, JCOVE Lite editor has a bug that doesn't allow the placement of desert infantry sections and my scripting skills are quite limited to remediate that. For the time being I will settle for a section composed of two fire teams with the organization and equipment detailed in the figure above.

On to As Samawah!

Look for US Army Field Manual 7-8 Infantry Platoon. Its your infantry bible.

Or The US Army Reconaisance Handbook.

Hi Mike,

With all the ARMA 2/US Marines lingo in my head, I actually forgot that the US Army has 2-fireteam squads too! Thanks for your pointer. This is going to be very helpful.

The British Army manuals would be useful too. ;)

Here's a link to the Canadian Forces' "The Infantry Section and Platoon in Battle" field manual:

You might find it apropos and interesting.
