Up to the Uprising DLC, Terminator's gameplay was all about tactics.
The newest Uprising DLC adds a campaign gameplay mode that, albeit not too overly complex, allows you to choose your faction's stances (defense or attack), equip your forces and choose which battle to fight.
In a big map, your move towards or from trouble. The resources are low and from battle to battle you can see how expensive is to replace men and materiel. This is not total war, but I am happy with the ability to cause trouble on other factions' camps at a time and place of my choosing.
There is only one playable faction in this game mode so far. But the post-apocaliptic atmosphere is captured very well as in the previous content. Combat vehicles of all types, including a very abundant pool of improvised ones, is the order of the day.
The popularity of the franchise is up now, although many players complain about bugs that were not fixed from previous times and a relatively shallow campaign mode (no possibility of building of infrastructure is a common gripe).
Myself, no complains other than the occasional funny AI mishap and the lack of time to play this game.
Cheers,
