IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Kuban - Map and New aircraft Available

The series continues to get better and better.

Two Kuban collectors aircraft, the Spitfire Mk.VВ and the Hs-129 B-2, dance to the tune of the deadliest song.

Along with the release of patch 2.012 (which fixed a lot of things), Battle of Kuban pre-orders got the Hs 129 B-2 ground attack aircraft and the Kuban map (Spring, Summer and Autumn).

The Hs 129 is fun to fly, maneuverable, responsive but very short in the weapons department.

This gun run will not end well ...

The unobstructed view of the terrain ahead from the cockpit of the Hs-129 B-2 makes you feel like you can spit at your ground targets.

Putting bombs into targets will take some practice, that's for sure.

The physics and damage modelling continues to be one of the biggest assets of the series. Note the bent propellers, indicating that the engines were running at the time of collision.

The Spitfire Mk.VВ has been available for quite a while. Being a Spitfire fanboy, I couldn't resist to try it out in the new Kuban map.
Flying over Novorossiysk's port facilities.

And here after landing at the nearby airfield. Everything has such a wonderful WWII ambiance. I also noticed that the stutters that plagued my time in airfields are completely gone.

That airplane below is mine. I'm climbing at full power and I think that's burnt oil from my engine (I don't recall being hit).

When I finally catched up with the German bomber, I scored some hits in its right engine. Alas, I got my engine shot from me, those damn gunners. However I was flying relatively fast and with the engine not running whatsoever I could maneuver my sights for more rounds on target. I felt a bit like Tom Hardy in the movie Dunkirk. :)

Cheers,

Man, this is making me "NEED" that new flight stick! Been a couple years since I've been able to fly a serious sim.
